Chapter 223 I Won't Leave
Chapter 223 I Won't Leave
Ning Yi went to Nanzhou ahead of time and made an appointment to have dinner with Yun Xia.
"Xiaxia, it's been a long time. You've gotten even thinner than the last time I saw you," Ning Yi said as she sat down.
Yunxia sighed and said self-deprecatingly, "I have so many annoying things to do at work, how could I not lose weight? I look haggard."
"I'll be thirty in two years, and I feel like I'm entering a midlife crisis prematurely."
Ning Yi said, "How could that be? You'll be fine after a couple of days of rest. People would believe you're nineteen or twenty."
Yunxia chuckled, "Only you know how to coax me. I can see my own dark circles under my eyes almost reaching my chin when I look in the mirror."
"I hope work is going well lately? I saw a video online a while ago, and everyone envies you two. I never knew your Ji Yan was so good at being romantic."
"If it were someone else, I might suspect that it was just a staged performance for the show."
Ning Yi smiled and said, "At that time, I thought he was filming an advertisement. It gave me quite a fright."
The dishes have all been served now.
Ning Yi specially ordered a fruit wine with a low alcohol content. She poured a glass for Yunxia and said, "Your health is the most important thing. If you're too tired, it's good to take a few days off to rest. You're a strong woman."
Yunxia picked up her wine glass, took a sip, and raised an eyebrow: "Strong woman? What kind of strong woman am I? The album planning for my band is stuck in a rut. The lead singer and the producer have been arguing for three days. I'm the middleman, acting as a fire extinguisher every day. How can I let go?"
Ning Yi picked up a piece of soft tofu and pushed it onto her plate: "That must have been difficult for you. The lead singer and the producer were arguing about the creative direction?"
Yunxia poked at the rice in her bowl and sighed, "That's right. One wants to lean towards electronic music, while the other insists on sticking to old rock. Yesterday, they almost overturned the mixing console in the recording studio."
Yunxia picked up some tofu and chewed, her cheeks puffing out. Her tone carried a hint of helpless fierceness: "It made me really angry. I told them, 'Can't you wrap electric guitar around electronic drum beats? Would it kill you to put a synthesizer sound in an old riff?'"
"The two of them were stunned for a long time, and yesterday morning they actually got together to revise the score. You know, these creative people only use their brains when they're pushed."
Ning Yi smiled and said, "It's good that you can keep them in check, but don't be too stubborn. If you really push them to their limits, they'll be fine, but you'll collapse first."
Ning Yi noticed that she hadn't touched much food in her bowl, so she picked up a piece of braised pork that was glistening with oil and placed it on her plate: "Try this. This one is braised especially tender. It's sweet, and you'll definitely love it."
Yunxia poked at the pork skin with her chopsticks, the sticky sauce clinging to the tips. She took a small bite, and her brows furrowed slightly.
"What's wrong?" Ning Yi asked as she watched her put the rest back into the dish.
Yunxia took a sip of fruit wine to calm herself down before saying, "It's nothing. I've probably been working too hard lately and haven't had much of an appetite. It feels a bit greasy."
"Then you should eat more light food and take better care of your health," Ning Yi said.
Yunxia nodded and said half-jokingly, "Next week is the time for my physical exam. I've been so exhausted by work lately, the doctor might even advise me to take a two-month break."
Ning Yi was about to reply when she saw Yun Xia's phone vibrate. She glanced at the screen, frowned, and quickly pressed the mute button.
"Work?" Ning Yi asked.
Yunxia's expression changed slightly: "It's nothing, just annoying phone calls. Let's eat."
……
As soon as Yunxia arrived home, she noticed a figure standing at the door.
The warm yellow light fell on the person. Zhou Chiye leaned against the wall, an unlit cigarette between his fingers. When he saw her come up, his eyes were filled with a deep look.
"How did you end up here?" Yunxia frowned.
He straightened up and stuffed a cigarette into his pocket: "I sent you a message but you didn't reply, and I called you but you didn't answer."
"I'm busy with work." Yunxia walked past him and went straight to open the door.
As soon as Yunxia opened the door, Zhou Chiye seized the opportunity to pull Yunxia into the house.
The door clicked shut, and he pinned her against it. His breath, mixed with the smell of unlit tobacco, wafted over her. Looking down at her, his brows were furrowed: "So busy you don't even have time to reply to messages?"
Yunxia's wrist was gripped tightly by him. She looked up and met the deep look in his eyes. Her tone was a little cold: "Zhou Chiye, let go."
"You're trespassing."
Zhou Chiye pressed his knuckles against the door, his grip firm: "Ha, trespassing? When you dragged me through this door, why didn't you say I was trespassing?"
He leaned closer, his breath almost touching, a dark glint in his eyes: "Yunxia, you've had your fun, but I haven't."
Yunxia's wrist was gripped so tightly it turned red. She looked up at him, her voice trembling but she forced a cold tone: "Zhou Chiye, I made it very clear last time. If you want to play around, go find other women to play around with. I don't have time for you."
Zhou Chiye's fingertips traced the red mark on her wrist, his voice hoarse: "Other women? Am I not clear? I only want you."
Yunxia turned her face away: "Big star Zhou, do you really have a bad memory? We agreed that we would each get what we wanted and that no one should take it seriously. Now, let's not talk about this anymore."
"I'm just another woman like all the others around you before. We were all just playing around, so please stop bothering me, okay?"
Zhou Chiye suppressed his anger: "No difference? Who said there's no difference?"
Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly leaned down and grabbed the back of her neck, his lips and teeth grinding down hard.
Yunxia's mind went blank for a moment, and anger surged to the top of her head. She struggled to turn her head sharply, but he grabbed her chin and forced her back.
When he pried her teeth open, her pent-up anger suddenly erupted. She bit down hard on his lower lip, and the metallic taste instantly spread. Zhou Chiye groaned, but his grip didn't loosen. Instead, he tightened his hold on her waist, his kisses tinged with the taste of blood, fierce and urgent.
Yunxia couldn't break free, her eyes reddening with suppressed emotion. She raised her hand to pound his chest, but her fingertips trembled.
Only when the pain on his lips became clearer did Zhou Chiye step back slightly, revealing a cut on his lower lip with blood trickling down the corner. He stared at her reddened eyes, his voice hoarse and deep: "Do you still feel... no difference?"
"If it were anyone else, my patience would have run out long ago."
She glared at him, then suddenly raised her hand, her palm slapping Zhou Chiye across the face with a sharp "smack".
He tilted his head, not dodging, and a red mark quickly appeared on his left cheek. Blood was still seeping from his lips, mixed with the palm print, making him look somewhat disheveled.
Yunxia's hand was still frozen in mid-air, her fingertips trembling even more violently, her voice fierce yet trembling: "Zhou Chiye, get out."
Zhou Chiye didn't move. He slowly turned his head back, the deep look in his eyes like ink soaked in water, so thick it couldn't be dissolved.
He stared at her trembling hands, his earlier anger subsiding, and whispered, "I won't leave."
