Chapter 235 Deep Father-Daughter Bond
Chapter 235 Deep Father-Daughter Bond
Thus, Tan Zhengchu and his daughter Qibao began a "one bite for you, one bite for me" cake-sharing model.
Every time Qibao scooped out a spoonful, he would taste it himself first before feeding it to Tan Zhengchu.
Although her movements were a little clumsy, Tan Zhengchu felt incredibly warm.
The cake was quickly finished, and Qibao patted his little tummy contentedly: "Daddy, I'll feed you cake again next time, okay?"
Tan Zhengchu smiled and nodded: "Okay, Daddy will wait."
Qibao slid off Tan Zhengchu's lap and skipped off to play with Erbao and Sanbao.
As Tan Zhengchu watched her retreating figure, a hint of sadness unconsciously crept into his eyes.
"I don't know how much longer I can stay with the children..." he thought to himself.
"I really want to watch them grow up one by one, to see Qibao grow into a young lady, and to still be able to feed me cake like this."
His thoughts drifted away, and the image of Qibao as an adult appeared in his mind.
"Qibao is so beautiful, she's bound to have many suitors in the future, right?"
"No, you have to get my permission before you can have a boyfriend, otherwise I won't feel at ease."
Thinking of this, Tan Zhengchu couldn't help but smile bitterly.
"When people are about to die, they tend to overthink things."
He shook his head, trying to banish those jumbled thoughts from his mind.
However, the reluctance and worry in my heart could not be shaken off.
He knew his time was running out.
But how he wished he could spend more time with these lovely children, watching them grow up little by little and become more independent.
"Qibao, Daddy will do everything he can to protect you and not let you get hurt."
He silently made a vow in his heart, his gaze falling once again on Qibao's cheerful figure, his eyes filled with tenderness and determination.
……
Secretary Wang gripped the steering wheel, her brow slightly furrowed. She glanced at the two little ones in the back seat through the rearview mirror: "Liubao, Dabao, are you sure we're going to a classmate's house?"
Liu Bao blinked and gave an innocent smile: "Yes, Uncle Wang, we're just going to our classmate's house to play for a while, we'll be back soon."
Da Bao, meanwhile, was engrossed in playing with the toys in his hands, seemingly oblivious to the secretary's questions.
The secretary sighed, feeling that something was amiss, but the two children looked completely at ease, so he didn't press them further.
The car stopped in front of the hospital, and Liu Bao suddenly said, "Uncle Wang, wait for us in the car, we'll be back soon."
"The hospital? Weren't you going to a classmate's house?" The secretary was taken aback, her confusion growing.
"My classmate lives near the hospital!" Liu Bao said with a grin, pushing open the car door, grabbing Da Bao's hand, jumping out of the car, and running into the hospital without looking back.
The secretary shook her head helplessly and could only sit in the car and wait.
He glanced at his watch, wondering to himself, "What on earth are these two kids up to?"
The smell of disinfectant permeated the air in the hospital corridor.
Liu Bao and Da Bao skillfully navigated through the crowd and headed straight for Lin Quan's office.
"Uncle Lin!" Liu Bao called out from afar.
Lin Quan was standing in the corridor, holding a medical record in his hand. Hearing the sound, he looked up and saw the two little ones running towards him. A smile appeared on his tired face.
"Liubao, Dabao, what brings you here?" Lin Quan squatted down and patted Liubao's head.
"Uncle Lin, we need your help with something," Liu Bao said in a low, mysterious voice.
Lin Quan raised an eyebrow: "What is it?"
Da Bao tugged at Lin Quan's sleeve and whispered, "It's something very important, about Daddy."
Lin Quan's expression instantly turned serious: "What's wrong with your dad?"
Liu Bao looked around to make sure no one was nearby, then took a small bottle out of his pocket and handed it to Lin Quan: "Uncle Lin, this is the medicine we found. It might be able to cure the virus in Daddy's body."
Lin Quan took the bottle, examined it carefully, and frowned: "Where did this medicine come from?"
“The source doesn’t matter!” Da Bao suddenly spoke up, his tone firm. “What matters is that it can save Daddy.”
Liu Bao nodded and added, "Daddy is in danger right now, we don't want to wait any longer."
Lin Quan looked at the two little ones, his heart filled with complex emotions. He knew about Tan Zhengchu's physical condition and understood how deep the two children's feelings for their father were.
"Alright, let me check the medicine first." Lin Quan stood up, patted Liu Bao on the shoulder, and said, "You guys wait for me in the office, don't wander off."
Lin Quan, carrying the medicine bottle, strode towards the hospital's annex. His mind was filled with questions: Where did this medicine come from? How did the two children get their hands on something like this?
But he didn't have time to think too much; Tan Zhengchu's situation was not optimistic, and he couldn't let any possibility slip by.
Pushing open the door to the annex, Lin Quan went straight to Wei Hao's ward.
In the hospital room, Wei Hao lay on the bed, his face pale and so thin he was almost unrecognizable. His eyes were dark and filled with hatred.
"What are you doing here again?" Wei Hao looked at Lin Quan coldly, his voice hoarse.
Lin Quan walked to the bedside and looked at him expressionlessly: "Can you still hold on?"
Wei Hao sneered, "Are you concerned about me, or are you mocking me?"
"I just want to know if you can hold on until the antidote is successfully developed." Lin Quan's tone remained icy.
Wei Hao turned his head away, refusing to meet Lin Quan's gaze: "I hate you, Lin Quan. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have become like this."
Lin Quan didn't respond, but simply took out the bottle of medicine from his pocket and said coldly, "This is a new drug. It might cause you more pain, but it might also save you."
A flicker of fear crossed Wei Hao's eyes, but he quickly masked it: "I'm not afraid of death, go ahead and try."
Lin Quan didn't say much. He picked up the syringe, drew up the medicine, pressed down on Wei Hao's wrist, and injected the medicine swiftly and decisively.
Wei Hao gritted his teeth, cold sweat beading on his forehead, but he didn't utter a single groan.
He lay on the bed, his face as pale as paper, with an IV needle inserted into the back of his hand.
Wei Hao's gaze remained sharp, like a knife, piercing straight at Lin Quan.
"What are you doing here again?" Wei Hao sneered, suddenly reaching out and pulling out the needle. Blood flowed down the back of his hand, but he seemed to feel no pain. "Are you hoping I'll die?"
Lin Quan stood by the bed, looking at him expressionlessly, his voice as cold as ice: "Whether you live or die is none of my business."
"None of my business?" Wei Hao's laughter was hoarse and grating. "Lin Quan, stop pretending to be so high and mighty! You hate me, don't you? You hate me for betraying Su Yingxue, you hate me for ruining Tan Zhengchu. But do you know what? I'd rather die than become someone like you!"
Lin Quan frowned slightly, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes: "What kind of person am I?"
