Chapter 73 Birthmark
Chapter 73 Birthmark
I heard that Lingxuzi was the descendant of an official family. He was exceptionally intelligent from a young age. When he was eight years old, his family suffered a sudden tragedy, and the entire family was implicated. Lingxuzi survived thanks to the desperate protection of his loyal servants. After the late emperor ascended the throne, he issued a general amnesty and, upon learning that Lingxuzi was still alive, granted him amnesty.
Afterward, he wandered around and stumbled upon a traveling doctor. The doctor, feeling sorry for him, took him on a journey with him. During his journey, Lingxuzi displayed remarkable medical talent. He possessed a photographic memory and a thorough knowledge of the properties and effects of various herbs. In just ten years, by the age of eighteen, he had mastered remarkable medical skills, capable of curing numerous difficult ailments.
However, his master was killed by the enemy army, and he once again wandered around and met an old Taoist. The old Taoist saw his spiritual roots and persuaded him to join the Taoism. Without thinking twice, Lingxuzi followed the old Taoist and entered the Taoist world. From then on, he stepped into the door of Taoist cultivation and now practices in Luoxia Mountain in Jiangzhou.
"I heard that many officials and their families who had complicated illnesses wanted to go up the mountain to ask him for treatment, but he always declined." Jingzhe said.
"Then why did you agree to thank Chief Secretary?"
Jingzhe smiled, "That's a good question, but our young master can always do things that others can't do, so it's not surprising."
When Su Wan saw that Jingzhe's previously calm expression was replaced by a subtle smile when he mentioned Xie Yin, she also laughed.
Arriving at Xie Yin's upper room, Su Wan followed Jingzhe in.
An old man in a Taoist robe and with a white beard sat at the lower left, while Xie Yin sat in the main seat with a majestic posture, seemingly enjoying a pleasant conversation.
Xie Yin saw Su Wan walking in with Jingzhe wearing a veil. He stood up and walked over to Su Wan, introducing her to Lingxuzi, "This is my friend's sister, so naturally she's also my sister."
Su Wan cooperated and bowed.
Lingxuzi laughed heartily, "Master Xie's personality has become so lively. As far as I know, Master Xie never liked to make friends before."
Xie Yin sneered. Su Wan, who was standing beside him, pursed her lips. They said Lingxuzi knew everything in the world, and it was true. It made him seem like he knew Xie Yin intimately. If that were the case, Xie Yin's poison wouldn't have remained uncured.
After Su Wan paid her respects, she looked up at the person in front of her and took off her veil. Lingxuzi's eyes flashed.
Su Wan just thought that her birthmark was a little scary, so she lowered her head and said hello.
"The birthmark on my wife's face is quite strange."
Su Wan smiled and joked, "I think it must be something my mother ate when she was pregnant with me, or maybe it's retribution for the sins I committed in my previous life."
The old Taoist chuckled. He hadn't expected that this woman, who looked quiet and reserved, could actually be so humorous. Xie Yin glanced at Su Wan, and the smile on his face faded.
Lingxuzi walked up and squinted his eyes to carefully examine Su Wan's birthmark. Su Wan was naturally nervous at this moment.
I only heard the person in front of me murmur and say, "Birthmarks are not incurable."
Su Wan's eyes lit up and she asked expectantly, "Really?"
Lingxuzi sat back at the table and continued, "However, this depends on God's will."
Su Wan's face instantly darkened. Heaven's will? Could it be that her words had come true, because she had done something awful in her past life? If so, what was the point of relying on Heaven's will? Was it just a matter of saying there was no hope? Su Wan's hopes were instantly dashed. But then again, there wasn't much hope to begin with, so why add to the sadness?
So she forced a smile and replied to Lingxuzi, "Thank you for the diagnosis, Master."
Lingxuzi smiled faintly, "My lady, don't be disappointed. When the time is right, this birthmark will find its place."
It would have been better if Lingxuzi hadn't said it. This made Su Wan and Xie Yin confused. What does it mean that the time is ripe?
Xie Yin frowned and looked at Ling Xuzi with a mysterious look, then whispered to Su Wan: "Master Ling may have his own way, but it's just a trick. Don't worry, our company has a way to make this stingy old guy speak." Seeing Xie Yin gave him a look, Su Wan was a sensible person. As long as he knew the result, there was no need to stay here.
She knelt down and said, "Then I won't disturb the Master and Brother Xie's elegance." Then she returned to her room.
"It's said that Lingxuzi's medical skills are unfathomable." Xie Yin said as he sat down, "If there was no solution for the birthmark, you wouldn't agree to see her. And you wouldn't say such nonsense. My sister is so disappointed that she naturally has less thoughts. But, don't lie to me."
Lingxuzi glanced at Xie Yin, with an inexplicable smile in his eyes, "This is my wife's private matter, I'm afraid I dare not say more."
Xie Yin's eyes flashed and he sensed something was wrong. "So this birthmark doesn't need to depend on fate. You can remove it as long as you want, right?" Xie Yin said in a cold tone.
"No," Lingxuzi replied, "Everything has a cause and an effect. My wife has had her birthmark since she was a child and has grown up safely for a reason. It would be bad if I, the Taoist priest, did something bad with good intentions."
Xie Yin rested his arms on his knees, twirling his fingers in deep thought. Hearing the Taoist priest's words, he realized that the birthmark on Su Wan's face was artificial, most likely to protect her. Removing it might actually cause trouble. But thinking of Su Wan's longing eyes and the desolate expression on her face, Xie Yin felt conflicted, thinking that Su Wan must be unaware of it.
"There won't be chaos in the world, right?" Xie Yin looked at Lingxuzi with a smile.
The people below laughed heartily, "If the world really gets into chaos, there will be people like Chief Xie to hold it back."
"Then there's no need to hesitate. You can treat my sister's birthmark, and I'll take the responsibility if anything goes wrong."
Lingxuzi shook his head, "Can you really be the master of this young lady's family?"
Xie Yin straightened up and said, "I just want her to be her own master."
Seeing that Lingxuzi understood but was still lost in thought, Xie Yin said, "I have a copy of 'Taishang Gan Pian' copied by Ye Lan. I was thinking of taking it back to see who I could give it to, but I don't know if the master would be willing to accept it."
When Lingxuzi heard it was Ye Lan, his cloudy eyes lit up. Ye Lan was a famous calligrapher in Dachang, highly respected by the world. Countless scholars had desperately tried to obtain his authentic works, but Xie Yin had easily obtained them.
Ling Xuzi's lips curved up, "I already consider Mr. Xie a friend. I wonder if Mr. Xie would be willing to have another friend."
Xie Yin looked at him with disdain, "But how can I be so open-hearted with you when we've only met once? I don't need so many friends."
Upon hearing this, Ling Xuzi raised his index finger and said, "Only treating the disease, no news."
Xie Yin stood up with satisfaction, "Then the master looks down on me a little." There was nothing he couldn't get if he wanted to know. Since he couldn't get the information here, he could just go and find out for himself.
Ling Xuzi looked at Xie Yin's back in front of the window and said with a smile, "Master Xie is truly devoted to his friends."
Xie Yin smiled faintly, "This is the only one, so naturally I have to treat him well."
After saying that, Su Wan's smile somehow flashed in my mind.
Su Wan didn't know that her face could be cured. She returned to her room, packed her luggage, and waited to say goodbye to Xie Yin.
Su Wan sat in front of the window thinking about Ling Xuzi's words, what is God's will!
She smiled bitterly and said, "Forget it, she won't be able to be a beauty in this life, so she might as well be a villain."
Just as I was lost in thought, someone knocked on the door.
Su Wan stood up and walked around the screen to see Xie Yin coming over. He seemed to be in a good mood.
Xie Yin came up to Su Wan and handed the prescription to her, "I talked my way into this, Madam Su, please be obedient."
Su Wan opened her eyes wide, took the prescription and opened it to take a look.
