Chapter 569 Clue Board
Chapter 569 Clue Board
Norvia certainly wanted to kill Danteles.
If Dantles really is Dooku's "grandfather".
Norvia asked Adega if he had a picture of his great-grandfather.
Yadega stood up.
“You’ve hit the nail on the head. Although my perverted great-grandfather killed almost our entire Saiheng family, there were still arrest warrants for him at the time. I’ve kept them—I’ll go take a look.”
Adaja took Norvia's plate and put it in the sink, then he stretched his wrists.
"That wanted poster should be in the storage room at home. I'll have to look through it for a while. There's no room in my house that you can't enter. You can take a look around. By the way, I'm a very versatile and family-oriented person. I cook very well and I'm an expert at making beds. I also clean the house frequently and I'm very hardworking."
As Norvia listened to Adega's boasting, she tilted her head slightly, her eyes crinkling as she asked Adega.
Should I tell Lulu all this?
Yadaijia let out a soft "Ah".
"Whether or not to tell her is hard to say, but if Lulu asks, you can tell her the truth. Riley, I've told you all my secrets. I know nothing about you now, but you know about my past. If Lulu is interested, you can tell her too. I have nothing to hide from Lulu."
Adaja retreated and disappeared at the end of the corridor.
"I'll go find that wanted poster first. Riley, if you're sleepy, go to sleep. The room with the height markings on the doorframe is mine. You can choose any of the other rooms besides my bedroom. Actually, there's nothing secret in my room—no inappropriate reading material, nothing strange—"
Yadaijia's voice gradually became ethereal.
Norvia responded.
"it is good."
She didn't know if Adegaari had heard it, but it shouldn't have made any difference.
Yada's home is cozy; the decorations look old, but they are all well-maintained.
Norvia observed the layout of the house, still harboring doubts about Adega. Adega's attitude was too natural; perhaps he was simply an outgoing person, or perhaps it was because Lulu had introduced him, allowing him to open up to her so readily.
Norvia stopped in front of a room.
This is a somewhat old house. Of all the rooms, only the floor in front of this room has been repainted, but it is still faded.
This is a fairly obvious flaw.
Norvia watched for a while, then left.
"...Aren't you going to push it open and see what's inside?"
Adagio suddenly appeared, and rows of lights automatically turned on, illuminating his indifferent expression. He leaned against the wall, as if he had been waiting there for a long time.
Adagio smiled. The smile masked the gloom that had been lurking beneath his face.
"Wasn't my entrance cool? Riley, you clearly noticed something was wrong, but you just turned around and left. What's wrong with you? Don't you have any curiosity at all?"
Norvia stopped, looked at Adega, and asked if the wanted poster was in this room.
"Of course, but wouldn't it be more fulfilling to find it yourself? I don't know if you understand this feeling, but I really find it hard to talk to others about my family, about my great-grandfather who, in theory, shares the same blood as me. History covers up the traces of sinners; no one remembers that there was such a madman. After all, he killed his own family members, and since others didn't lose anything because of him, they won't remember him."
But I remember. I hated him so much. The thought that he might still be alive, somewhere in this world, using his offspring to prolong his life, made it impossible for me to live in peace, to pursue happiness. Every day I lived in constant fear, wondering if today was the last day of my life.
I love Lelouch. But I can't confess my feelings to him. My life is already counting down; how can I possibly accept that?
Yadaijia's brows and eyes were somber.
"Open that door. You will see all my fear and anger. That is my greatest sincerity towards you."
Norvia stared at Adega, and only now did she feel that she had touched a part of Adega's true soul.
Facing death, fearlessness is only a fleeting state; in the time it takes to know one's death is imminent, fear and resentment are constant companions. Under such immense mental pressure, Adegaari's apparent composure is not normal.
Norvia pushed open the door.
The room wasn't large, and things were placed haphazardly. A dark green sofa sat across the middle of the room. On the wall opposite the sofa, fine red lines, one after another, burned into Norvia's eyes.
Even though she was prepared, Norvia was shocked by what she saw.
On the wall was a huge clue board, densely covered with briefings and photos. In the very center was a wanted poster, almost torn apart by red thread, as if it had been soaked in blood.
The wanted poster in the middle features a young man who looks somewhat like Adega, gloomy and decadent, fulfilling all the characteristics Dooku described, only much younger.
The information on the clue board was too complex for even Nolvia to quickly make sense of it. Gathering this information would take more than a year or two.
Norvia watched for a long time, then noticed that Adega had also entered the room. Norvia turned her head and asked Adega when she had learned about her origins.
Yadaijia placed his hands behind his head, relaxed and calm. He looked at the entire wall of clues and smiled softly.
"Before I was born. How should I put it, although my background is tragic, I don't think so myself."
My biological father, in theory, shouldn't be a genius, because a genius only comes along every two generations. I have great talent, and as a puppeteer, my talent is undeniable. I should be that genius. But my father is very clever. He noticed something was wrong and began to investigate the Saiheng family. My biological mother was afraid that my father would die young and that I would repeat his fate, so she decided to search for the truth with my father.
This wanted poster was found by my biological mother. She was a bard. She tied her life to my father's, hoping to share his life with him in this way, but of course, she failed.
Then, my adoptive parents, these two incredibly stupid thieves, decided to raise me together. They naturally discovered this room, saw the wanted poster, and realized from the simple clue board that there was a huge conspiracy here, and that I might very well repeat my father's fate. So they took over the job from my biological parents.
My adoptive father was barely literate, and my adoptive mother was a little better at it. I can't fathom how they found so many clues. Moreover, they didn't tell me the truth when I was a child. They hid the arrest warrant for Dantles and told me they wanted to reconstruct the history of the Saiheng family.
I wasn't interested in my family history. What I was most interested in back then was making puppets; I could spend entire days in my room. Later, my adoptive parents died one after the other. Before they left, they placed that wanted poster right in the center and told me I might die at twenty-two. The rest of my life was mine to walk.
Yadaijia looked at the intricate clue board.
"Riley, I want to live. To live to twenty-two, to live until my hair turns gray, to live until the age my adoptive parents left. I haven't lived enough yet; I carry the hopes of at least four people on my shoulders. I deserve to live a happy and long life, just as they expect."
"Laylie, I know Dantles is still alive. I have to find him and kill him. If Dantles is alive, the curse won't go away, and he'll end up like me."
Adaja pointed to a photo covered by a red line.
Norvia stepped forward and pulled back the red thread, then she suddenly froze.
—That's a photo of Dooku.
